SA:On the road:Latin-America 15th anniversary part 6 - The final chapter

Sunday 23.3.2014 Travel Day + Montevideo, Uruguay
We were really happy that the flight from Buenos Aires to Montevideo was a short one since
everyone is starting to be quite tired and last night there wasn’t much time to sleep so it was straight to the hotel as usual for the band and we also skipped soundcheck so everyone including the crew could get some rest. In the evening we had a meet & greet before the show and another afterwards. I had a rented Triton Pro X as the piano for today and somehow most of the sounds were quite, should I say interesting so I had to do a little bit of programming to get any kind of ok piano sound out of it. Since I didn’t want to be a dick to whoever lended it and reset the whole thing, I thought this was the right way to go….this time. Anyways it sounded like shit in the in-ears but Mikko said that it did the job through the PA so I guess all is well. Once again a crowd that was into it and a hot gig ! We played here some years ago but this time we had more people and a better venue in my opinion so
this was great. Now we only have one travel day + one more show to play and then a hellish travel
to get back home. Anyways, my night ended with Netflix and tomorro I can sleep until 0900 which is a luxury on this tour.

Monday 24.3.2014 Travel Day
Of course I woke up at around 0600 in the morning but luckily I managed to sleep a few more hours. The day was spent flying, first to Buenos Aires and then to Neuqen. In the evening we had some dinner and me & Pekka decided to have the tourending party one day ahead. Things got a bit crazy when we remebered that Fernet Branca is from Argentina :-)

Tuesday 25.3.2014 Cipolletti, Argentina
Woke up by a knock on my door, our Tourmanager told me to pack my stuff and we changed to a better hotel. Finally a nice one, so of course I slept the whole day :-) We skipped soundcheck again and in the evening it was time to play the last show of the tour. Some of our crew guys walked through the stage with a ladder during Cloud Factory but other than that the show didn’t go too much out of hand. Sometimes on the last show of the tour things go really crazy but this one was different.
Oh, some girl managed to jump the stage and scare the shit out of Tony by more or less jumping on him from behind.Nice one. After the show we left pretty quickly to go to the hotel, pack our stuff and get some sleep before the long trip home.

26.3. & 27.3.2014 The long travel home…
So, down to the lobby at 0700 and then to the airport. A short couple of hour flight to Buenos Aires. Got all the gear in one van and the dudes in another and then it was time to change airports. At the next airport we again got to enjoy the hassle with the checkin before our nice 13 hour flight to Frankfurt. Of course there was a strike at the airport so for awhile we had the excitement of not being sure if we had a flight to Helsinki. Luckily we did but a shitload of other flights all over the world were cancelled. In Helsinki we got to wait for a couple of hours before our flight home to Kemi was due. So around 35 hours after we left the hotel I got back home.

15 shows, almost 50,000km , 24 flights  in 25 days…

The best part is that we get 12 days at home before it’s time to start the Pariah’s Child World Tour
with 4 weeks in Europe. See ya all then !

cheers,

Henkka

  2. Well now I'll stop worrying that I'm too much of a weird fangirl - at least *I* don't jump on the fucking stage and do shit that might get you hurt. :(

But you made it! See, it wasn't THAT bad ;) Hope you guys had fun despite all. How did Pasi fare? From the pics he didn't seem to feel the tiredness at all!

Also aaaah I got Pariah's Child and I really really really like it! It's the kind of album that takes a few listens because there's so much going on, but also the kind of album that gets stuck in your head all at the same time. Good job :) Can't wait to see some of this stuff live!

    1. I'm not sure if Pasi ever sleeps at all since nobody has seen him do it, so short nights doesn't seem to be an issue with him.

    2. Damn if even you have never seen him sleep, it's serious! Are you sure he's not an android? ;)

  3. Thanks for keeping us up to date with everything! Hope you will enjoy your few days off, but I guess that won't be a problem ;)

I always read in your blogs about meet&greets and meeting fans... Somehow I always miss these things! Seen you guys live 5 times now... So any tips for a chance to meet you guys in Eindhoven, Netherlands? Sixth time lucky?

    See you the 10th!

  4. Well, I'm sorry about that girl on the stage, I don't support that kind of behavior but, who can blame her? Just kidding ;)
I'm happy and amazed about the crazy tour you just made. Cheers, guys. Enjoy your family and your weeks off, I hope to see you again around here with Partiah's Child Tour. You're the best!

  9. Why you didn't use your m3 as a piano source and the old triton as a controller? I don't have the m3 anymore but I believe it could be done easily without messing with your programing. Why you're renting pianos on this tour? In 2010 you were here with your complete m3 and plus the Roland piano and axsynth and your pedals set.

    1. Since I use all my patches in a list per song I would have had to save a piano patch in whenever needed and move all the other patches, and this for every song so it would mess with my programming..and I've NEVER toured South America with my own piano, in 2010 I also rented one back then. So don't worry I got it covered, ok ? ;-)

    2. Oh Sorry. I always thought that the RD was yours. I had the luck of getting a few pics of your rig back then. I remember that I bought my M3 on that same day, October 30 I think.

About the programming, i thought that if you were using a combi, you could add a new channel and route it to the Triton, without messing with the order of the list, but I was just wondering. I didn't mean to be a 'know it all', especially about set, I'm sorry if it seemed so. hahaha

    3. No worries, I do have a piano a Korg SV-1 that I absolutely love but the only places I tour with it are in Finland and sometimes in Europe (on bus tours) as well. Otherwise it's cheaper to rent a piano than pay for the overweight when you fly...and yeah I could have added a layer for the piano but since we played around 20 songs on that tour there would have been too much programming to do for one show, especially since I would have had to do it on site and at the day of the show...or maybe I'm just lazy ;-) Figured out about the Triton pro X on the showday so it was a bit late. I have a preference list when renting pianos for one off shows and this one is towards the bottom of it so....the first choice is always the SV-1, to me it has the best piano sound, even better than RD-700.

  10. While Triton Pro piano is not a fondest of memories, never felt right, and hasnt aged well its still nice to see the good old workhorse soldiering on! As distinctive as a Wilhelm scream :)))
