SA:On the road:Latin-America 15th anniversary part 5

Tuesday 18.3.2014-Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
…so the band minus Tony, went to the Ipanema beach and had a late lunch at The Girl from Ipanema restaurant, how fitting. It was a really nice and relaxing day, walking on the beach and enjoying the sun. After that a quick shower and then our rehersal at the venue. In the evening we played Cloud Factory for the first time ever which worked out nice. We dropped Cinderblox and The Cage and played San Sebastian in the encore. Of course I tried to show off a bit too much and fucked up a bit on the unisono but that’s life. I ended the night with a couple of nightcaps with Tommy and of course the magic of netflix.

Wednesday 19.3.2014-Travel Day + Sao Paulo, Brazil
Luckily we didn’t have to leave from the hotel before 0900 so I even managed to get some breakfast, which is always nice. Today we’re playing the last show in Brazil on this tour and tomorrow we have to get up really early to fly to Santiago, Chile. The show was really great tonight, very hot and the fans seemed to be very into it, did I ever tell you that I have the best job in the world? Anyways, wore a brazilian t-shirt on the encore and threw it in the audience afterwards, don’t ask why. At the hotel we had some drinks, took some pics and before you know it, it was time to leave.

Thursday 20.3.2014-Travel Day
So, we left the hotel at 0510 or something. Airport hassle and the usual shit. I slept the whole flight
except for the last 30 or so minutes (the flight time was around 4 hours or something). In Chile we got a nice welcome cheer from our fans but we had to jump into the van and leave more or less straight away. Hotel Check-in, Lunch, a nap and then another nap and in the evening we had a dinner before heading out for a couple of drinks.

Friday 21.3.2014-Santiago, Chile
..slept until it was time to leave for the soundcheck. Today was one of the biggest show on this tour, we had almost 3000 people and they were on fire ! Before the show we had a meet & greet and received a bunch of nice gifts from the last amazing chilean fanclub. After the show there was no time to do anything since we had to get up at 0500 in the morning to go to Buenos Aires, when you arrive at the hotel at around 0100 there’s not much time to sleep. As usual I took a shower and then packed all my stuff so that in the morning all I have to do it wake up, brush my teeth and walk downstairs.

Saturday 22.3.2014-Travel Day + Buenos Aires, Argentina
Slept the whole flight..and appeareantly I managed to forget my orange shirt, that I’ve been wearing at the shows, in my hotel room. I guess it’s still drying on the chair :-( Well, I have to figure something else out now. Nevertheless since last night was so short we went straight to the hotel and as soon as I’d got my lunch from room service and ate I slept for a couple of hours. In the evening we had a very fired up show at the sold out venue, it was hot as hell but so what ;-) I almost fell flat on my back when one of the riser steps gave in towards the end of the show and of course during Black Sheep my rack lost all it’s power. Appeareantly the power socket was a bit too lose or something. Other than

that everything went smooth. Afterwards we had some drinks in Pekkas room.

  1. Gotta say that as much as I love Cloud Factory I'm happy I got to see you before you dropped C-blox and Cage. ;)

And aww, goodbye St. Quentin shirt :( guess you'll have to keep doing the shirtless thing ;)

(Btw, my Team Pasi sources in Argentina tell me Tony wasn't feeling well, hopefully he's feeling better and hasn't passed it to anybody...with this little sleep it must be pretty hard to stay on top of it...)

  2. Yes, we were very into it!! Thanks for a great show in São Paulo. Great music, great lyrics, nice funny guys, Sonata rocks. It was nice to see you and Tommy (is his eye better?) wearing Brazilian shirts. I liked Cloud Factory live, although Tony got the lyrics wrong at the end, hehehe. It happens. Anyway, I had a great time, thank you for a great evening. Come back soon, ok? And next time, how about a meet and greet?

  6. It was a great show in Buenos Aires. It was hot, but also was one of the craziest audiences I've seen over here.
I really enjoyed it and it was lovely getting to meet you in the meet and greet. :)
Cheers, hope to see you all again soon.

  7. I must admit, it pains a lil in my heart to think that you didn't fully enjoy the concert here in Buenos Aires because of being too tired :( and hope it can be different in the future.. anyway thank you so much for the great show you gave here even being in that way.
Btw, I made that raven-weird-thing-plushie you received at the meet&greet haha.

  11. Hola! Just passing by to thank you for such a great performance you did last Friday here in Chile! I really enjoyed every second of it, I was really close to the stage but I was feeling so happy and just letting myself go with your music that I almost didn't take any picture haha but well, I had already said to myself this year you are just gonna enjoy the moment and wont waste that precious moment by taking pictures, I spent most of the concert doing that last year, cant complain, but I did miss a lot! This time it was crazy! I kept sweating, jumping and headbanging it felt like I was in a "sauna or a cage" cause I could hardly move, but it was just great!!!! the emotions and feelings I got from that nite were just amazing I still feel that happiness, so thank you so much !!! Love the way you play the keyboards, you have a really nice vibe, you really do... Have a great day and be safe. Love, Nini.

  12. Hi Henkka, in the first place, i must thank you (and everyone in the band, including the crew) for a GREAT show at Teatro Caupolicán in Chile, you all created an environment simply amazing, i got to say i still miss The Cage, but i enjoyed every second of every song in the show, thank you all for letting me voiceless the rest of the weekend.
On an unrelated topic, Eddie (vocalist of Break.Down) said that they were really proud cause you guys picked them up as support band (i didn't know them before, they are pretty good), and said that he joined you for some drinks the night before the show. Is that all true?

    1. Yes we had some drinks with Eddie on the night before the show.

    2. HI Erick im from Chile too haha, I just wanna give you a lil advice fro the upcoming concerts... An hour before the show take a pill of Naproxeno 550 mg. I usually use one called eurogesic forte, so that my throat wont be sore or hurt after singing and shouting ! I used to get to the point in which I couldn't even hear my voice after the fifth song which really sucks! being voiceless after a concert its a good thing cause it reminds you what u did, but its not when u gotta work. Well that's it!

  13. Hey Henkka, I have a question, what does Tony said before start playing The cage? The only thing that I hear is something like "is heeerka perkeenfgjsd" haha or something like that.
    And what does it means?

    1. Häkki perkele - the cage. Häkki means Cage in finnish.

  14. Is it true that Tony was sick at são Paulo show? If so he didn't looked like he was! You all were so great!

We saw the band arriving at the venue without him...

Hope he is better! Can't wait until the new album releases!

    Cheers

    1. He sometimes skips soundcheck in order to get more rest, being a singer on tour is really different from doing anything else since your body is your instrument.

  15. I traveled a long distance just to check you guys out in Buenos Aires, and I gotta say, it was incredible. Just beautiful, amazing. This was the 3rd time I went to your shows, and I'll never forget it. Thank you SO much for everything, and I'm glad you guys had a great time as well!

And by the way, the moment your started playing White Pearl Black Oceans I almost broke in tears. It's been my favorite track since I discovered you back in 2006, and to listen to it live was one of my personal life dreams. :')

  16. Hey!
I just wanna say that I'm really happy for concerts! I went to Brasilia and Sao Paulo, so I heard both setlists, it was amazing!
So, in Sao Paulo I brought a poster asking for Mary-Lou (I know you guys won't play it, I was thinking about the next tour, just a idea, haha) and Tony made a really strange face, is there something wrong with that song? It's my favorite one :'(
I'm waiting for the Pariah's Tour, hope see you soon :D
